Throughout the 2022-2023 school year we were engaged in an interactive and transformative strategic planning process. The result was the creation of our ACS F.I.R.S.T strategic plan. We feel the acronym F.I.R.S.T. provides the perfect framework for focusing our collective efforts to be the first and best option for students and their families in Anderson and Madison County.

in the past our strategic planning sessions have been the school board in the cabinet and we go over what we think are all should be well this time we decided to open it up and who did we bring to the table we brought everybody to the table we brought staff teachers parents we brought too many members we brought businesses we brought students to the tables first time we've done that we haven't asked to do this they thought to the magic happens when students are here so this is the first time that we had included everybody in the process and that's what was unique about this time that collaborative nature of the district's strategic plan was really the most amazing part about it all the hope is starting early and following a children along with this plan doesn't let any child slip through the cracks the plan provides direction for every age of children that attend Anderson Community Schools all the way down to the preschool level is first means that we have respected these variety the multifaceted of Education from the volunteers to the teachers and staff to the ministry to the parents themselves in the students of course bringing those perspectives to the table first is putting them first like or berating those things such as d e i and Community initiatives and too bad considering what we can do to ride resources for not only students but for the parents in our teachers and staff to make that goal accomplished Bowl first family tree in the Orion it native education strategies responsible government Student Success and teacher and staff Focus those are the things that we have to keep our eyes on you talk about keeping your eyes on the prize first is an acronym that reminds us what that prize is and what the thing we need to focus on the most at the Anderson Impact Center we've had an impact senior adult program for about eight years now and as we were approaching the new year we talked about how do we get more involved with our community so through a series of meetings with a F and ACS we ventured on a partnership to get our impact senior adult program participants enrolled in a volunteering program with Anderson Community Schools we have the opportunity to work with Anderson Community Schools all the after-school shooting program 2 days a week this year and the good thing about it is that it's 125 ratio with student teacher so it's very small group very focused and work on their reading skills and they work on their masks and last year after the program operated the students gained a half a year and they're reading hopefully the immediate impact is our literacy rates are improved but long-term is if our literacy rates improved then we are providing a well-rounded knowledgeable educated group of young people that will continue her journey with ACS and eventually they'll be the leaders and the movers and shakers in our great community of Anderson Willian lied my heart because I feel like I'm helping the kids and the classroom is so full and Miss Brown gives her all and just to be able to take a few and try to help them and make a difference it just make play feel good I like volunteering because it makes a difference in someone's life I think when I look at those children if I can help them to get one step ahead that makes me feel good and that gives me chills and the Public School System model my husband and I were raised in the inner some public school system for currently raising our three kids in Anderson Public School Systems today and we understand that everything is perfect but the Strategic plan provides an opportunity to try to get it to the best it can be with this plan as an alumni in as a professional in the district My Hope Is that we continue to grow we can send you to be better able to support our students and our numbers continue to grow so that we can flourish as a district it is determined mostly by student count and so we want every child to come back year after year and we want people to come to our community and we want our community to continue to grow and flourish and I think this plan will have a huge impact on that community events Community organizations community meeting participate when we have chances to volunteer chances to be a part of the school contribute we can be here to organize but we need every student every parent every staff member every teacher every volunteer every custodio to participate because if we do it by ourselves it's our plan it's not the communities plan be involved stay involved get involved
