hello and welcome I want to thank you for being here welcome to the graduation ceremony for the Anderson High School 2022 we're going to start off with a performance from our Coral Department of we won't stop dreaming WCVB show me some pictures of horses hello family staff students and soon-to-be graduates of Anderson High School my name is Scott Sherman on the principal of Anderson High School we're here today to celebrate the graduates of the class of 2022 and we need to recognise some of those that help this day possible dr. Jose chronic superintendent of Anderson Community School dr. Kelly Dear assistant superintendent dr. Eric Davis assistant superintendent and mr. Leonard Brown the superintendent we thank you we also want to thank members of the board dr. Patrick machine Shaylee mr. Ken Hudson Miss Carrie Bell is Holly rims and also like to recognize mr. Alan Landis one of my assistant principals mr. Chris Shelley and other one of the assistant principals mr. Steve Schindler athletic director as well as our counseling departments Dean's teachers and staff at all care about the success of these students as well as the office staff that participated today if you could please give these people around of applause to our graduates first take a moment to thank your family and friends that are here today please give them a round of applause if you would suits graduates congratulations your hard work has paid off the last few days years have been something we could have never imagined the challenges were brought on by the pandemic and when multiplied the difficulties you've had to face but you've overcome you should be proud of your accomplishments I want to challenge you to take the skills and knowledge that you've Acquired and make our world a better place be the change you want to see and help those around you make a difference in the world class of 2022 I know you the attitude and drive to make a difference go do just that God bless at this time I'd like to introduce your class president mr. Ricky Wang he will lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a Moment of Silence would everyone please rise and join me in the Pledge of Allegiance I pledge allegiance the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all this man standing for my silence even open season at this time I'd like to take the opportunity to introduce our superintendent dr. Joe crunk good evening everybody I have this is my third commencement speech commencement that I've done is superintendent toys hard to follow the the Great Highlander band before I actually get to my speech that this may be the last time that all of you in the audience and all of you behind me will hear these words this is a message from the Anderson Community Schools I want to welcome everyone to a momentous day today is the culmination of over 12 years of study and hard work of the students you see see if you're behind me want to congratulate these graduates of the class of 2022 and welcome them to the ceremony but I also want to recognize honor and welcome their families and supporters assembled here before many students do not make this journey you should buy these students as they struggled and dirt and yes succeeded and their educational careers you all deserve a large part of the credit for helping them to make it to this graduation recently I wrote In for a local our local newspaper regarding tradition and doing research for the article I remembered a few scenes from one of my favorite place but we're on the roof in this play the main characters deal with both tradition and change and world is forcing both upon this is not unlike the issues now facing our students and it's about tradition and change that I want to talk about today and many ways all of us here have experienced the tradition of Anderson High School class of 2022 is the latest in a long find graduates dating back to 1876 but that sink in for a moment that's nearly 150 years that's right the class of 2022 is the latest group of graduates to receive their diplomas in a 150 years dating back to just after the Civil War and that's pretty special something to be proud of such events that will be remembered by you the students in the families here for the rest of your lives however don't let that be the last great milestone to achieve use this as a launching pad to more Great Moments be that college trade military or into the workforce Anderson High School prepares what's the can and do meet the needs of tomorrow students seated behind me your lives are about to change High School graduation is traditionally regarded as one of the Milestones marking the end of childhood and at a in the start of adulthood from this point for the responsibility will become an increasingly important aspect of your lives you're not fear this would embrace the change and turn to face the challenge change is not something to Fred brings on new experiences just as metal is tempered by Heathen for so too will you grow and strengthen into the new responsibilities of your life let the challenges mold you into the Stars I know you are all destined to become earlier I mentioned the play Fiddler on the Roof song from that play I like in particular is sunrise sunset and by the way they made me promise not to sing so I'll spare you that the song references the main characters children growing from chill the sunrise to adulthood and Beyond and that's the sunset about educating and mentoring children and preparing them to find their way in adulthood in a way we here at Anderson Community School play the same roles we watch students grow from preschoolers and end of the young adults you see seated here today each year we are reminded of the sunrise sunset Journey each of our students makes Anderson Community Schools has prepared you for the Milestone of graduation but please know your time with us has been treasure continue to make us proud make your family proud but more importantly make yourselves proud live up to the promise of greatness within each of you as I often say when I make my winter weather calls home and in those calls with the war be well be safe and keep in touch drop us a line or visit us on social media we love to hear great things from our families thank you at this time I'd like to present your commencement speaker is Hannah Whipple good afternoon thank you all for attending and celebrating the special day with us as most graduation speeches begin with congratulations we did it today we honor the class of 2020 to the number 22 has held a special place in my heart as well other seniors behind me today I was just sign my email in second grade and then I had no idea what it was as I entered sixth grade I was required to login for the first time 22 Whipple a chat acsc.net why does it have two before all of our emails I know the answer as a time has come it's the year you graduate from entering Anderson High School thinking everything was enormous to sign in your class of 2022 poster which probably hangs in the hall being on the stage ready to receive her diploma as a class we chose the motto perseverance is power which I believe speaks volumes today perseverance is persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in which success which defines our class quite well our class faced the unimaginable and yet here we are despite a global pandemic which brought with it countless e-learning days virtual days and hybrid you all should be exceptionally not of yourselves this is the moment we've been waiting for I know where time at Anderson High School was short but I know I'll remember for a lifetime they'll be no more spaghetti days with a brownie they'll be no more Halsey there won't be a marching band parade in the Halls at 7 a.m. there won't be a library filled with solar powered figurines bubbling there won't be an A B C or D lunch there won't be an A B C D or there won't be a long lunch ID to remember there won't be any more tropical Tuesdays at least for me what there will be are the memories and I am happy to say I will miss it we once called Anderson home how to place we will come home to as I reminisce on the stage I'm also excited to see what is to come next for all of us what will be our new normal when we move on from Anderson I hope you see it's past in your everyday life as you walk to your new class I hope you hear Hustle Hall sweep not only do I hope you remember Anderson High School itself but I hope you remember all the valuable lessons the people you met in the friendships he made the staff and faculty who helped us be honest today and push us to be more than we ever dreamed with capable the teachers who taught you that the. Ricky Wong good afternoon everyone first off I like begin was thinking mr. timer for letting me speak here today and more importantly congratulating all the graduates sitting before me Socrates once then falling down is not failure very comes when you stay where you're falling now I'm no Socrates and I certainly won't be giving any life-changing advice by like to visit and chairs are high school Journey over these past 4 years story of a blooming lemon tree as we start high school's freshman we're just saplings fresh out of middle school we don't know anything at all and our freshman cells are far from what we are today we will live carelessly doing whatever might have been tested us bus and shuttle through life thinking for years is a lot of time I have plenty of time before I ever have to worry about graduating but as the end of the freshman year down on us we realize that one year went quicker than we thought and even if we didn't know yet our branches started he began changing the people of different than that of her Middle School cells sophomore year remind us that we're getting older and time was passing faster than we thought it was our last year's underclassmen life started to come less about silly drama and more about bring up our flowers begin to bloom and we just started to discover who we were for most of us do any year was the end of our youth we became the upperclassmen and people starting looking up to us if you came more more and Dolls going to ever heard of classes and most of us start stressing about school way more than we ever did this year was our cold winter and we have faced our hardest challenges yet but all that Blood Sweat and Tears paid off and lets her senior year we survive the harsh winter and it give you some breathing room for a Carefree year if you hadn't had since we were freshmen a full life cycle and ask for tree you survive a cold and bitter junior year on our flowers bloom to two lemons and no matter what path you might have taken you would have done the same old lemons you get from the grocery store better and sour or sweet and event every one of us has struggled through High School whether it be Sports grades or relationships all of us had our unique struggles but those hardships have. Who be worth today so as you go on to the next chapter in her life keep in mind that no matter what lemon slice I give you make lemonade thank you class of 2022 may you please stand please follow me and hold your tassels and now moving to the left congratulations your new graduates of Anderson High School it is my pleasure to Brazil few Anderson High School class of 2022 by the power vested in Me by Anderson Community School Corporation in the school board I officially pronounced she graduates they're your caps now if you wish whenever you're ready Miss geyser just so you're aware the graduates will exit they'll be moving in to get their actual diplomas and then we'll be out shortly thank you for attending today's ceremony
