At Anderson Community Schools (ACS) we understand that it is important to offer flexible learning options for our students. The Anderson Online Academy (AOA) is just that! AOA is a 100% tuition-free online option open to students entering grades 4-11.

Through our virtual learning platform powered by EdOptions, students have access to a diverse selection of courses, ranging from essential core subjects to enriching electives. Our focus is that students receive personalized attention and support throughout their academic journey.

Why traditional school might not be the right choice for my student?

Traditional in-person school might not be working for your child or your family. Some common reasons families select homeschool or online include:

The child is distracted by disruptions in their everyday classroom environment

How do I know if AOA is the right choice for my student?

What is the eligibility for AOA high school students participating in athletics?

AOA students that reside in Anderson Community Schools' (ACS) district can participate in athletics at Anderson High School (AHS) if they meet IHSAA participation requirements. This includes being enrolled and passing at the certification date five (5) credits worth of classes with at least one (1) of those classes of their choosing being in-person at AHS.
AOA students that reside outside of the ACS district may participate at their home school if they meet IHSAA participation requirements. This includes being enrolled and passing at the certification date five (5) credits worth of classes and at least one (1) in-person class at their home school.

Can AOA high school students participate in extracurricular activities?

AOA students who reside in the ACS district may be involved in clubs and other extracurricular activities if they are enrolled in one (1) in-person class of their choosing at AHS. If a student does not attend at least one class in-person at AHS they will not be able to participate.
Unfortunately, AOA students that reside outside of the ACS district aren't able to participate in extracurricular activities. They should check with their home school on their requirements for non-traditional students participation in clubs and other extracurricular activities.
