We are here for you!

This letter was sent to families on Saturday, August 15, 2026 through ParentSquare.

Good afternoon,

The past week has been challenging for our community. To some in our Anderson Community Schools family, it has been devastating. The flooding has forced hundreds of Anderson residents to evacuate their homes and, in some cases, leave all or most of their possessions behind. For those that have had to evacuate their homes, or suffered damage as a result of the flooding, we are here for you.

Over the past few days we have been in contact with the City of Anderson and other community partners to offer our assistance and resources where needed. We would also like to share this resource webpage developed by the Anderson Public Library to help assist those in their recovery.

We also wanted to share information and support as we prepare to resume school next week:

Transportation
If your student has had to relocate as a result of flooding, and you have questions about their transportation, please contact our Assistant Director of Transportation Kevin Baird at: [email protected]. Mr. Baird will assist you with finding bus transportation for your student at their present address.

School Supplies
If your student is in need of a backpack or school supplies please contact Maria Alexander, Executive Director of the Anderson Education Foundation, at: [email protected]. Mrs. Alexander will get the supplies delivered to the student at their school.

Household Items
Many of our schools are collecting non-perishable food items and other household items for families impacted by flooding. These items are available to students who need them when we return to school. Please contact your student's school social worker to request assistance.

Return to School
Speaking of school, at the time we are sending this message, it appears that all of our school buildings, aside from minor damage, are in good condition. Therefore, we are hopeful we can return to school on Monday. If not, we will inform you if another closure is necessary. For those most impacted by the flooding, if your student is unable to return to school please contact their school to report their absence.

We will get through this together. In the meantime, please know we are here to help and support any way that we can.

Sincerely,

Ms. Mandy Webb
