Anderson University awarded $1.8 million IDOE grant to support ACS students

Anderson University (AU) has been awarded a $1.8 million grant from the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) through their Student Learning Recovery Grant program, also referred to as the 1008 program. AU will partner with JobSource's STAR Tutoring Program to provide after-school tutoring to students at Anderson Community Schools during the 2022-2023 school year. Additional information, including participating schools and how to register students, will be made available in the coming months.
 
The focus of the program is math and literacy. All curricular programming will be aligned with Indiana Academic Standards using robust, evidence-based instructional practices. Intervention programs that will be implemented using intuitive digital tools, allowing the instruction to be adapted for each student’s individualized needs, while simultaneously targeting current grade level standards as well as addressing learning gaps from previous grade levels.
 
The Student Learning Recovery Grant Program, created in 2021 through House Enrolled Act 1008, allocates $150 million to support accelerated learning for Indiana’s students in the areas of literacy, mathematics and college and career readiness. Through the grant, Indiana is supporting community organizations, education service centers, higher education institutions and K-12 school across 86 counties of Indiana’s 92 counties.
