Editing previous response:
Anderson Community Schools uses multiple measures and universal screening to identify students who demonstrate a need for High Ability services. Parents/guardians who believe their child's identification decision does not accurately reflect the child's abilities may request a review of the decision.
Appeals must be submitted by June 30 for consideration for the following school year.

Assessment Consideration
If the information provided through the appeal indicates that previous assessment results may not accurately reflect the student's abilities, Anderson Community Schools may administer an alternative norm-referenced ability and/or achievement assessment at no cost to the family.
The submission of an appeal does not automatically result in additional testing or a change in High Ability identification or placement. All relevant information will be reviewed by a committee trained in High Ability identification and programming.
Parent/Guardian Certification
I am requesting that Anderson Community Schools reconsider my child's High Ability identification decision. I understand that the High Ability identification committee will review the available information and any relevant new evidence before making a final determination.
