As we prepare for the second semester of the 2020-2021 school year, we are requesting that EACH student in attendance at Anderson Community Schools have a documented selection for instruction either face-to-face or to participate virtually. This selection will be for the 2nd Semester of the 2020-2021 school year (January 4 through May 27, 2021). Once a selection is made, there will be limited opportunity to make changes due to staffing and classroom numbers that have to be determined before teachers and students return after Christmas Break. Any changes will be based on a documented need because of a student exposure to Covid-19.
We realize this is a difficult decision for many families, and we encourage you to give serious consideration on what is best for your child(ren) and your family. You are receiving this letter now so you will have ample time to make a choice. All selections must be made by November 30th, and the decisions will be final. After this time, movement of students will only be considered by ACSC Administration.
Face-to-Face Instruction: Your student will be placed in a traditional classroom and will attend school each day. All students attending are expected to bring a charged device to school daily, and follow all safety protocols in place at that time.
Virtual Instruction: For PK-6, your student will be placed with a grade level Virtual teacher that provides ALL instruction online DAILY. COMPASS, Highland Middle School and Anderson High School students will keep the same teacher and class schedule whether virtual or face-to-face. Students are expected to be logged in DAILY to participate in classroom instruction and assignments. This requires a serious commitment of time and structure to ensure your child’s best learning opportunities. Parents of students in K-2 may need extra parental support for this mode of delivery to be successful.
